Hardie plank

Well, here I am again and this time it's to show Peg and Joe what Hardie Plank looks like on our house. Can't believe I was successful. Pictures are right size also. This is a 45 degree filler piece for the top corner of garage rather than a sharp 90 degree. Softens the opening, looks a lot better.
Side window of kitchen, garage door and mail box flowers with our maple tree and some beautiful knock out roses.

I have been trying to send these via e mail but no go. Let's see if this works. New cars, mine silver and Dad's gold Toyota Highlander.

NEWS FROM THE HOME FRONT

One on left is Tom & Dot on cliff overlooking ocean. This one on right is looking down from the cliff. Absolutely beautiful sight. This was one of the day trips when we went on a crusie beginning of June with our neightbors, Mario and Linda. Super trip, good weather, good food and great conversation.

This is one of big THREE coming back from day of sightseeing - and looking forward to cocktail hour and dinner. After dinner there was always some presentation about the days' activities or the next day. Educational trip as well as welcome vacation.

ROCK GARDEN IN ROSWELL

Picture on left is lovely rose bush which Bill & Mad gave me for 70th Birthday.
This Japanese Maple is a sight to behold from the front window. Notice the carefully placed border...

Notice the
well placed
rocks around
my roses,
mostly volunteers from the Lake.
Dad just finished his rock garden on the side front lawn. Lots of work and sweat to make it all come together. I think info about the homestead is worth blogging, don't you all. It has been so long, I almost forgot how to blog. Maybe Facebook is the answer.

Maier Family Reunion/Sept. 2008

Ok, it looks like I made the pictures the right way. I did not get any photos at the actual reunion - too busy meeting and greeting all the relatives. It was a beautiful day - weather perfect for a back yard party. It was so nice to see everyone.
Top picture left is the grandchildren - Will had quite a time, really tried hard to get him in picture with Brendan, James, Jack and Leslie.
These were taken at Peg and Joe's house the morning after a lovely brunch at their house.
Mike and Mary by the car patiently waiting to leave. Peg, Mary, Jim and Ann - a lovely group.
All in all, it was a very nice weekend and I do believe all the Maier clan enjoyed it. I am going to see if Terry Kerr can e mail us some pictures and could possibly blog them. Ok Frank, it is now your turn to update. Kudos to Peg and Joe for their hospitality to parents and siblings.

Another Chef in the Family

Well, it looks like we have another chef in the family. Brendan was very happy to be helping Peg with her trifle for Fourth of July dinner. Their block party was called off (till later in fall) due to rain. All we keep getting here in Atlanta is thunder, slight shower and then it's gone. How about you Northerners sending some rain down here.
I just realized how long it's been since I blogged but I just checked my grandson Frank and I beat him anyway.
His Aunt Mary suggested he now will have to acquire a chef apron - bib will just not do.

VISIT TO CHARLESTON FOLKS

The flowers were in full bloom down by the battery in Charleston, my picture.
Dad took this picture of the new bridge - we drove across it and it was an amazing structure - eight lanes and seems to go on forever. Great addition to the Charleston experience.
Top left is Will chasing James at the condo we stayed at in Seabrook, SC. Absolutely a real treat but the weather did not cooperate. It was ok as we were visiting and sightseeing. Good weather for that. Good time....

BIG SINGLE FISH

Well, Dad finally went out on the boat Friday - spent five hours fishing and was ready to call it quits when this large mouth bit. A long day but at least he caught one. When he got to Altoona there was a fishing tournament going on and there was no place to park. He had to circle around and find another ramp open. Such is the luck of the fisherman - either too cold, too windy or everyone else is out there. The lake has finally come back to pool but Lake Lanier is still 14ft. down. We are going to Charleston this weekend and hope the weather there will be better. Looking forward to seeing the come back people from Holland.
